If you are a passionate builder, and you just want to create something, but you don't have the capabilities to do something in the real life, Minecraft is your thing. It was originally created by Markus Persson. He quit his job at an established games developer to create his own game. Unemployed, but enthusiastic, Markus was looking for inspiration, and it came from indie game development blog, Tigsource.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of sandbox games, but when I get to choose one, Minecraft is the best one right now. It really doesn't have super buffed up graphics and fancy cinematics, but the game really delivers on gameplay level. The only border is your own imagination, there are tons and tons of different stuff you could do. People from different spheres are joining up together in this wild 16-bit adventure. The notorious producer Deadmau5, made a viral video once, where he plays Minecraft with fans and he trolls them hard, making a trap that burned everyone in the lava. Epic stuff.

Probably the most iconic moment is when a random guy popped up on YouTube with his creation of a full scale model of Star Trek's Enterprise ...
... ship. That just shows how much innovative you can get with this game. Shortly, after this video the Minecraft train became even faster and bigger. The updates for the game, came quickly one after another. The cherry of the cake was when 4J Studios released Minecraft Xbox 360 edition.

And after reading all this wall of text, and you are still wondering “Why should I play this game?”, I have the answers:

The game is not really that expansive, compared to others.

It has a lot of depth, but in the same time, it is so simple.

You can build whatever you want, whenever you want. And the good thing is that you don't need builders cleaning London to clean up your mess after that.

With friends or without, Minecraft keeps growing and there are millions people that you can play with, when you get lonely.

Man... watching the sun rise over a blocky ocean. It really is pretty.

If you are STILL not very convinced after all this, go to minecraft.net, check what others do, and I bet you will get into it right away. This is the LEGO of our time. The best sandbox indie game of all times. If you are a casual gamer, you really cannot skip this masterpiece, whether on Xbox 360, PC or on a mobile device, you really should give it a try at least.
